Great American Smoke-out
So for those of you who don't know, today was the Great American Smoke-out. Every year, the week before Thanksgiving the American Cancer Society sponsors the Great American Smokeout and encourages smokers everywhere to commit to quit for 24 hours. Well as you can imagine, this is a pretty big deal when you work in a department called the Tobacco Prevention Program. My lucky draw today was to man a booth at Phoenix College, where we did education on the dangers of tobacco use and invited smokers to quit. Channel 3 news even came by and took some video of my co-worker Denise which was featured on the 5 o clock news. Anyways, it was a fun change of pace to get out and do an event again. (I don't get to do nearly as much of this stuff as before our budget cuts this summer). So overall it was a very enjoyable day.

The kids talked about this in health classes and they were supposed to encourage a friend or family member to participate and give up smoking. Unfortunately we don't really know any smokers right off hand. But still, the knowledge is good for them.
Hey, this sounds a lot like how my day was. I had to man a booth at the hospital for the same reason. It was way nice to get out of the office, but you're lucky you had a partner. Sometimes it was so dead and boring at the hospital so I did a lot of Sudoku :)
