Food for thought:
A 2 year mission is 10% of a 20 year old missionary's life
The Christmas Season lasts roughly 5 weeks, about 10% of the year
Our 3 hour church block is a little over 10% of our Sabbath day
A week contains 168 hours, if we count 3 hours for church, 1 hour for FHE, 2 hours for institute, scouts, mutual, etc., and 1 1/2 hours daily for personal and family prayer, scripture study, individual pondering, journal writing etc. then our weekly total comes to 16.5 hours, just under 10% of our week, and we haven't even counted the occasional fireside, temple session, or service project.
Time is like Tithing, if we budget the Lord's 10% first, then the remaining 90% seems more than adequate.

Interesting observations! I've heard about the Christmas analogy before, but the others you bring up are insightful.

It kind of goes along with the challenge our bishop gave us yesterday. He encouraged each couple (although it would work for singles, too) to tell the other spouse 5 things they're thankful for. Then for the next week, try to concentrate only on those things you're thankful for and the other things will fade in significance.
I've never looked at it that way. Just so you know it started snowing Friday night and has snowed every day since you left. We miss you.
