I was driving home today and happened to see a group of teenagers who had built some ramps and jumps in an empty lot in order to skate board. I couldn't help but smile and think: they need a Charles Henry. You see, a number of years ago my Grandfather, who was infamous for talking to and making friends with everyone he met, was headed into town to go shopping or something and happened across a couple of teenagers that were a bit upset. Being the man that he was, my Grandpa stopped to talk to them and inquire what the matter was. They shared their frustration in not being allowed to skate anywhere in town and to make a long story short, Grandpa, ever in teaching mode, asked them what they could do about it, then proceeded to mentor them over the next several months as they gathered support, put together a proposal for a skate park and presented to the city council on the matter. And lo and behold the little town of Rigby decided to build a skate park. My grandpa was even recognized on a local news station for his role in the project. After my Grandpa passed away a couple of years ago, the city decided to rename the skate park in his honor. I bet none of you (unless you're related to me) can say the same; so you see, my Grandpa really is cooler than yours.
